| HULLABALOO - RECENT WORK
We have been fortunate enough to undertake some very
interesting and enjoyable projects over the past year or so.
Some of these are listed below.
AND TUKE SCHOOL
Funded by Creative Partnerships, we worked
with dancers from the nationally renowned
Laban Dance Centre,
creating a performance project with
young people with learning difficulties.
One of our most enjoyable projects was working with a teenager from the school, recording to CD and DVD a set of raps and rhythms. This project won an Young Person's Art Award.
We are currently working at Tuke with an Egyptian Dance project,
and are soon to be working with the English Touring Opera.
MOG - BODHRÁN MAKER
We recently filmed and edited a video of
bodhrán maker Mog of Renegade Rhythms
demonstrating his drum making techniques.
This was presented as part of Anita's MA work,
and was also used in instrument-making
workshops at the Horniman Museum.
We hope to follow this up with a series of video
records of traditional instrument makers.

Organising and curating an exhibition in a professional gallery of art by schoolchildren from Deptford.
THE GHOST OF PECKHAM RYE
Composing and performing music live for a silent movie made by students at Tuke School. Recording music to DVD.
ELDERS MUSIC HISTORY PROJECT AT SUTTON HOUSE
A workshop/performance of hurdy gurdy and the Arabian influence on mediaeval music, at National Trust property Sutton House in Hackney, for an Elders Project.
MARSHA PHOENIX HOUSE PHOTOGRAPHY PROJECT
A photography project at a hostel for homeless young women, using both digital and traditional techniques, editing the results in Photoshop, culminating in a public exhibition of work.
INSET DAY AT HACKNEY MUSIC SERVICE
A demonstration of instrument making from recycled materials for
primary teachers in Hackney.
This year, we are working on a website for Marie's
extensive photographic archive - spanning about 30 years! -
and hoping to compile a book of Hullabaloo's workshop
ideas, for use by teachers and youth leaders.
As you can see, we rarely sleep!
